@MOONDROP should i be worried about this tarnishing(?) on my 4.4mm Chaconne? The plug works, I've only had it a few months and I store it in a cool dry place, etc. None of my other cables exhibit this when using it in the same DAPs. Is it just cosmetic wear or something I should try to warranty

Replacing the stock medium tips from my Aria to Spinfit CP145M I think it did reduce the sub-bass a bit and increased mids too, which was exactly what I was looking for, so recommended.

How long do variations need to burn in ?
I've put atleast 50 hours on my set of Variations and have yet to notice any change in the iem. Maybe that's not enough time, especially considering they are LCP drivers. I would imagine LCP technology would take longer to break in than your standard paper coned drivers. Maybe someone has read the detailed information on Sony's LCP technology; I believe it was Sony that originally developed the Liquid Crystal Polymer technology.

I've noticed a burn in of my Topping A30 Pro amp and the difference is audible. It has a smoothness to it that it did not have out of the box.

I'm thinking the Variations will burn in but it's prolly going to take 100+ or more hours to burn in.

At the same time I'm not really sure I want anything to change. I absolutely love the signature of the Variations.

20hours for staying calm, 100 hours to finishing whole, mine is around 80hours, currently keeping Variations aside due to a new shock wave of $46 IEM GK10, it handles full Orchestral better than Variations

I have listening sessions everyday ranging from 1.5 hours to 3 hours. IMO this is plenty of time each day to warm the diaphragm up enough to "burn in". Like I said I've got a good month of listening time in on the Variations and an estimation of 50 hours of listening time. I have yet to notice any change significant enough to be audible. In my hopes, the signature will remain the same but only time will tell. 😎

I usually don't pay attention on how many hours I've used my iem, but I use my iem mostly around 5+ hours a day.
I am also enjoying Hifiman Sundara right now. Both has the same sound characteristics imho.

Sometimes the estuation tubes to the ears become inflamed and create negative pressure on the ear drums. You can tell by taking a antihistamine and see if it reduces the effect.

That sounds exactly like what's going on because my ears keep popping. I'm gonna try that as I have some antihistamine in my medical cabinet. Thanks for the info 👍

At least my personal pair from 2019 doesn't look like that.(I don't use it that often since I didn't get out of my doorstep too often last year) To my experience this looks like it's less durable than expected.(yes ,it is cosmetic wear, but our plug should last longer than just a few month.
This wear&tear won't affect the sound but the plug might be less durable as the gold is there to prevent oxidation)
You should try to let your local dealer replace the plug if possible.
