Pierre Monteux conducted London Symphony Orchestra to record Bethoven's all symphonies. No 1-8 were republished by DECCA. Any body have idea of this serie?

Thanks. Seems Monteux's cycle is excellent. I am wondering if I need to get one set. I have Bohm and Karajan's set and Kleiber's 5 and 7.

Boehm and Karajan really came out of the same type school and tradition. I would recommend at least one set that is not in their "teutonic-heroic" style, and perhaps a set that is more in the historically informed manner.

The Pastoral at least is a must. I can't recall how Boehm did it, but Karajan must have hated the symphony as he raced through it with the fastest times on record.
