Monster Miles Davis Tribute thread

Hello all. I'm new to the audio world so bare with me here I don't know much about this stuff. I felt pretty set on this IEM until I read it doesn't go so well with the Clip+. Is there any kind of portable equipment that could resolve this issue or would I have to look into another music player? If so I guess I'll look into another IEM for the time being.

Had them for 2 days,
Initial impressions are quite nice.
Of course, I'm preferring the UE silicon med tip, due to the ease and sound bore
Anyways, I'm immediately impressed by the transient speed of these dynamic cans, they can even keep up with some dual/triple bas.
Bass is punchy and warm, can be a bit overwhelming on certain tracks. Wonderful female vocals with good decay. Extended highs [Not sparkly at all though] non fatiguing. Build quality is A+ Solid.

Hey guys, my MMDTs arrived today.
They are brown box.
How do I check for fake-ness? I ordered straight from the monster website but someone told me that they have even sold fakes inadvertently before.
Edit: after fiddling with the tips and choosing the smallest one ever (guess I've got small canals), I'm listening now and it definitely doesn't SOUND fake... sounds great.

U can check the nozzle if its recessed or not & the box
Yours are real by the sound of it :)

I have a similar question. I mean, I'm sure mine are not fakes, I bougth them from J&R (authorized seller) trough Amazon.com on July last year (I have the black box, I think the brown one wasn't available yet) and they sound amazing. But, what would be a "real proof" for example if I ever wanted to sell them. How could I assure the buyer that these are not fakes?. I don't understand what should I look on the nozzles. Are they any other " signs" I could check? Apart from the invoice, of course

Check my sig for the MTPG/MTPC comparison - the same applies to the MDT's (nozzle pics) :)

Another good thing to include (for the warranty) is the PROOF OF PURCHASE -> this allows anyone, be it yourself the original buyer or the 100th buyer to return them to monster -> as monster will need a proof of their authenticity

A very informative thread in your sig. Thanks.

Looking at this site, the box appears black. Do you think the site is stocking fakes, or selling older IEMs? One thing that made me suspicious is that they say that they are based in the US, but ship from Hong Kong. Does anybody have any experience with this company?

That site is incredibly obviously fake without worrying about the color of the box.

"All cheap dr dre headphones for sale at up 45% discount, beats by dr dre discount sale in Our beats by dr dre online store."

What part of that looks like it was written by a reputable website?

that site is 100% fake

You should know better Nulliverse - I know you, and you're smarter than that :)

another thing is - if you really want to get them - wait for me to get my 2 pairs.
If I don't really fall in love with 1 pair.
I'll sell one pair BNIB from the Monster US outlet store (at base price) to you :)

+1 You can also tell by the pics they provide, the gold plated colour on the housing compared to the 'gold' on the flex (wire) is a different tone. The gold on the flex is a lighter colour, and that was one of the signs that it's fake.

Thank you very much. I understand now after looking at your pics. Mine are real (I already knew that, but now I have more proof ). And by the proof of purchase I suppose you mean the invoice. Like I said, I bought it to J&R Store trough Amazon.com, so the purchase is registered there and I can reprint the invoice if needed. Will probably put mine for sale once I reach the requisites for posting on the sale forum.

indeed - invoice does fine - and re-printing the amazon receipt will be just added confirmation :)

As long as you just show the nozzle in your listing + state that the original receipt will be provided for warranty purposes - you are plain sailing :)

Smarter than what? I was suspicious, so asked for input. Nothing dumb about that

Thanks for the kind offer (appreciate that), but I'll pass. I've just spent $565 on the AUD-5X, so won't be able to buy anything else for a while. I was asking about fake Tributes more out of curiosity, than personal interest, as you (and possibly others) have had personal experience with this.

De-cored Comply should solve your problem.

I took that idea but made it into a more clean look by de-coring the Monsters Foam Supertips and using the Radio Shack Auvio tips. I am very impressed by the isolation I am getting and the comfort. The sound-stage has increased a little bit and now I am getting a more balanced sound. I like how the foam looks like it was meant to fit in there. The Auvio eartips are so dense now and feel similar to the gel supertips but with a wider bore opening.
