What is the problem with these IC's ? I have always used them with my home setups I guess due to ignorance.... Is there something wrong with them ? Because I see everyone here recomending rat shack b4 monster cables? Reason I ask is because I dont know of a hifi audio shop around town and if I want to get some high quality ics quickly monster would basically be my only option. Is there someone who can shed a little light for me on the issue with monster cable cables ?

First of all AudioGon is your friend. Especially true if you live in an audiophile free city

Monster isn't bad, just not typically good value. I think once upon a time I used InterLink i500? It was pretty good but for the same dollar I had better options that I just didn't know about at the time. Same reason I had Cerwin Vega? speakers as a kid, esh glad those days are gone

I think monster are to cables as what bose are to stereo equipment. Both are good and both are a step up from your generic brands however for the price you can get a whole whole lot better..

Agreed, it's pretty lousy. I pulled a monster cable off an RCA jack once, and the entire plug separated from the cable. Must have mistakenly pulled on the cable part, but not very hard...

As I've mentioned elsewhere, my partner works for Future Shop (a big Canadian electronics retailer). Staff discount is based on cost price. The markup on Monster stuff is bigger than the markup on _anything_ else in the store except batteries.

Its that damned turbine-cut RCA connector of death. I suppose its just doing what its designed to do.......

I had bought an interconnect from MC before they turned evil. I haven't bought any new products (and certainly don't plan on it now) since. But then I accidently ran-over one of the connectors with some wheeled furniture and bent it, now I can't even Ebay it.

Unscrew the turbine and take a look at the soldering job on the wire inside.
