Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

Hi, after some listening to the m1060 I kinda like it. Can be a bit harsh and sibbelant but over all it's a energetic planar compaired to the HE4xx.

Got the new version with the 2.5 ts cup end cable plugs.

Can any provide a link to a cheap'ish balanced cable 2.5 trrs on AliExpress?

Try removing the grilles and see if the sound is less sibilant. A less obstructive and/or reflective grille does wonders. I personally feel the stock grilles (and the pads) hold these headphones back.

As for the cable, I noticed that the dual 2.5mm TS cable options on AliExpress have dried up recently. That makes the balanced options even fewer. I did a quick search and checked my favorite stores but came up with nothing. I had some luck on eBay, however, so you could try looking there. This one says it ships free to the Netherlands. But I don't know if this length and termination work for you. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5mm-BALA...-700-HD700-Audiophile-Headphones/174046118673

Thnx for your time . Is a hd700 cable termination and wire schematic identical to the m1060?

Any TS cable (including HD700 ones) should work fine with the M1060 unless it's wired completely backwards, but then it wouldn't work with the HD700, either.

I have a cable that was designed for the HD700 that works with both my HE4XX (old, 2.5mm version) and my M1060. I don't think the M1060 has any weird wiring on the 2.5mm jack so I think even a 2.5mm TRS plug would work as long as the ring and sleeve are wired together which makes it equivalent to a TS cable (the cable I use on my M1060 is a dual 2.5mm TRS).

Greetings all, new M1060 owner here. I got rid of the foam under the grill after few weeks usage and like the more open sound but.....I noticed that the right planar "speaker" makes this kind of a subtle metallic "crackle" sound when I gently push the ear cup towards my ear, like a foil membrane is moving because of the slight pressure change. I tried to search if someone else has had similar issues but did not find any in a quick search. This is only hearable when there is no music on. Monoprice Europe has been very good in customer service and said that they are ready to change the HP:s to new ones. Am I the only one with this kind of property in their headphones?

Check page 79 for discussion of planar's with this. I noticed it more after doing better fazor pad adapters that don't leak pressure. Right side does it a bit more than left.

Ok, I have the M1060v2 and love them. Is it worth getting the 1060C and then selling the original 1060's? I don't know how much real world difference there is.

After two months of ownership, the wood cracked at the yoke. Working through the RMA back to monoprice now.

It's currently only $238.55 to find out if you concur with the general consensus that an opened M1060C is noticeably better than the M1060. You then have the choice to return, sell or keep one or both - open or closed. My M1060C remains closed for office use.

Skipping the XLR connector, I brought a 2.5mm balanced jack to (2) 2.5mm mono jack, 1.5m cable , for around $25 usd on eBay. Only white color. 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced jacks are available too. Took awhile to ship from China. Sound great.

On eBay, search for

3.5/2.5/4.4 Balanced 8core Silver Plated Headphone Upgrade Cable for Oppo PM-1
