Monoprice Electrostatic Headphone

Oh, bummer. Might be a DIY repair if you're handy. Wonky charging port probably just needs the USB connector resoldered, tho it might just be the cable (have you tried a different one?). Static in one ear could be the amp or the headphone. You'd almost need to have another to swap out to be sure. A less honest person than yourself might actually buy a new one, and then "accidentally" return the old one under their 30-day return policy. Don't do that, tho. But that would be a way to "borrow" a new set for troubleshooting purposes.

The thought crossed my mind. The repair would be a huge pain for me. Being legally blind, I don't have very much usable vision left. And even before then my soldering skills were bad lol. Although from the same ebay seller I managed to snag a pair of m1060 for 85 with no cables or pads. I had old pads and 15 dollars in cables later bam! Working m1060. I have the bookmark for another forum where they have a teardown of the amp. I'll see if a friend of mine can fix it.

I feel that $250 is fair when compared to the Drop Koss ESP9xx. If the Koss was back up to it's normal street price of $799, then $400 would be a fair price for the Monoprice.

Interesting. That would explain why you couldn't find it via searching or browsing. They probably de-indexed it before marking it "discontinued", and I caught it last night right in between the two actions. Oh well. I guess now I own a rare discontinued item - LOL!

Seriously, though, I'm glad I scored me a pair while they were available and cheap.

Yes you are lucky to get a set. I am hoping that they will introduce an improved version, better bass and maybe they could fit it with a Stax plug. Improved amps, portable and desk top would be nice as well.

Does Electrostatics eventually break due to dust. Koss offer lifetime warranty on their product.
I doubt it's the same for Monoprice.
*properly designed* estats do not have issues with dust or humidity. Stax drivers for example are all fully sealed and are safe from environmental conditions as long as the dust covers (on the drivers themselves) are intact. Can't say what the monoprice estat is like. IIRC the koss estat is not sealed so it has dust problems.
