Ok. I've been thinking of getting a new headset for monitoring and dj'ing, and I've looked into the Sennheiser HD250 II, but I also fear that they're getting kind of outdated...

I'll need a headset that doesn't sit too tightly around my ears, 'cause I need to be able to wear glasses while wearing it (the HD280 is too tight).

I'll probably want to use the headphones for listening as well, but that won't be the main focus.

Does anyone have any recommendations or do you think the HD250s will be good for what I'm going to use them with.

Thats uncalled for. You can use search functions to answer any question that may possibly arise about almost any subject, but most people try to resist just replying to say 'Google it dumbass'.

Anyway, I recommend the Sony 7506/V6 model. The reason is they are fairly cheap, but built very well, and if you're anything like me, you'll be treating them like crap. They are great for mixing with a very fast and tight bass. I like them fairly well for just listening to music too, although they are far from audiophile standards i guess. The Sennheiser 25s are very nice too, but i think they are insanely uncomfortable, really tight and hard, the V6s fit neatly around the ear and are nice and soft and comfy (I also wear glasses).

the only downside I've had are the pads which wear away and rip after a year or so (but are replaceable with much nicer ones from beyerdynamics IIRC), and they have the manky sony coiled cord. I also broke my jack in half, but that was my fault entirely.

That was me being polite. The rude version is just "do a search". The same questions keep coming up, the best way to work out something is usually to do a search on head-fi (not google), narrow it down, the post your thoughts.

I'm writing a headphone review database to help with these sorts of common queries, it's taking longer than expected though.

commando: I did a search, and I found the thread you linked to as well, but I still didn't feel that it answered all my questions... none of the other threads did either.

The thing is that I've tested the hd250s and the 280s and some other senns, but I couldn't really wear any other sets than the 250s if I wanted to wear my glasses as well... so, the question can probably be rephrased as: I need headphones that I can wear with glasses, but they still have to isolate outside noise and be good for dj'ing and monitoring.

biotech9: Thanks, I'll look into them.

hrmm interesting you couldnt wear glasses with hd280's. i have a large circumfrence head and big chunky plastic glasses and had no problems with my old 280's.

have you tried out the technics rpdj1200's? i had no problem with these and glasses either....

going to try out some ultrasone's tomorrow. i'll report back on fit when i get home

yeah, with the 280s I couldn't wear glasses AT ALL... they bent the.. eh.. things that go behind the ear, and hurt the side of my head... maybe it's because of, and not in spite of your large plastic frame you could wear them.. I have a small, almost non-existant metal (titanium, I think) frame that bends easily.

yeah, I've tried the 1200s, but for some reason I didn't like them they sounded metallic.. that could be because I only tried them in a record-store where they were plugged into one of the decks that you could use for listening to the records, and they may have been mistreated or VERY old or something... I'll check them again in a regular store...

well i have titanium framed glasses too. the ones with a small diamter single wire as the earpiece? ive found mild discomfort with those and all headphones.

i do suggest the rpdj1200's i never found them to be tinny. go check em out. mine are on my last legs tho (skyskraper induced, not a fault of the product) so i'm looking to try something new

the 7506's are very attractive, as are the ultrasone's. off to test in the morning

Get a pair of Sennheiser HD25-1's.

Excellent phones with good bass. Will make beat-matching a sinch.

See link and click on reviews. There are about 40 reviews, mostly by dj's. It's a five star headphone... That'll last many years....

The Sony V-700DJ (which I used to own) is a two star 'phone...
