Money no object - but don't want overkill for Spotify/Desktop PC

Here's my question: I have several hundreds of dollars of Amazon points built up, so I can buy a nice rig. But I don't want to be a chump either, and buy way over what is optimal for my listening.

100% of my listening is Spotify on a high-end desktop PC, in a quiet environment, where I work alone. I listen to mostly old school funk and Afrobeat like James Brown, Fela Kuti and Tower of Power, and modern acts who do the same type of stuff.

I don't listen to CDs or any kind of audiophile audio formats.

I have my eyes on the Beyerdynamic T90. I want open cans so I can hear when the UPS guy shows up at the office.

I'm also willing to buy an amp and/or external DAC if called for.

My question to you guys -- is this ridiculous overkill for my listening source and music preference? Am I throwing my money away?

Thanks for your guidance.

I don't know the T90, but I'm pretty sure you are going to want a relatively powerful amp for them.

PS: lol - you really have no idea what "money no object" means at head-fi. You aren't even close... :p
