This may sound very weird but buying jeweries or rare watches can bring you profit if you keep it long enough.  Right now, I have invested a lot of my money into buy gold necklaces which is probably a weird hobby/habbit for a high schooler :P.

I lack the courage and the time, but if you get into amateur car racing, you can make some money... or spend a ton and never see a dollar.... or end up with multi-thousand dollar hospital bills...    kinda a crapshoot ;)

Two words: "eBay, baby."

How to sell all the junk you would pay someone to take:

1. Take a well lit photo of said item with a bed sheet as the background.

2. Post on eBay, citing the original retail value and and interesting facts.

3. Be honest in condition.

4. Get money.

P.S. Make sure you properly calculate the shipping costs, or have the auto-calculator do it. But be careful. If you don't input the right weight/dimensions then you may have to pay the difference for your mistake.
