I would like to get molex connectors for both the power switch and power supply, and LED connections on my Pimeta board. When I have the amp out of the case and am working on it, the wires tend to detach on these. Unfortunately I have only a passing knowledge of molex connectors; what the heck do I need? Mouser has so many different kinds.

Has anyone already done this who could easily point me to the right parts?

Take a look at Tangent's parts lists for the PPA, for example. If I understand what you are looking for correctly, the normal connectors used are the Molex KK series, 0.100" (2.54mm) spacing.

Something like this would be the header, with this being the connector body, and these being the pins. Search on page 166 of the current DK catalog for more. I would use the locking ramp PCB headers such as the first one I gave you, as these a) lock, and b) are keyed to prevent putting the plug on backwards

I have NOT verified these on a Pimeta, however.

thanks to Pars and MisterX, and to slowpogo for asking this question - it's actually something that i've been wondering about as well. being able to detach the board from the panel components quickly and easily is a rather attractive prospect.

OK, I think I'm missing something...I thought Molex connectors were simply a male part, that would be soldered to the board and has pins, and the female part, the "plug" that would attach to your wires.

So what are the additional "pins" for? Don't the connectors already have pins?

No, the pins are what attach's to the wires.
The plug is what holds the pins and the header is what the plug + pins connects to.
