When I had the MOH to compare with the Cosmic. I had the gain set at medium, processor on and bright.

It depends on the cans:
HD600s: Gain - high, Processor - off, Brightness - off
HP-1: Gain - medium, Processor and brightness - off
MS Pros and SR-325: Gain - low, Processor and brightness - off
Ety ER-4S: Gain - medium, Processor and brightness - off
I use the processor when I need to for extremely panned recordings, then I set brightness to bright.

Talk about being on the same wavelength. I asked a variation of this question in the Static thread. In case I can get more answers here -- does anyone have the brightness boost on when NOT engaging the crossfeed?

Gain: Depending upon the CD, gain setting on either medium or low.
Process: Depending upon CD, process on or off.
Filter: Depending upon can, AND CD, off or bright.
There are a number of CD's which sound most natural with process on and filter off. A few sound better with the filter on bright in addition to the process being on.
I have virtually no (none come to mind) CD's which sound best with the process off and filter on bright. Likewise, no CD's which sound best with the filter on brightest under any conditions.
The improved imaging of the OutLaw cables has caused me to prefer a few discs without processing which I previously preferred with process on. Likewise, the improved high end and resolution of the OutLaws has caused me to prefer some CD's with the filter off with process on even though I previously preferred the filter on bright.
