Modhouse Audio Argon - T50RP MK2/3 & T60RP

There are many arguments about it is balanced or not, but no one can dispute that it is one of the best Amp out there. With 6 watts of power it can drive almost any headphones period.

I have not seen one argument that it's balanced. I have seen a bunch of people mistaking the XLR jack for a balanced connection though.

What a best amp means could be different for different people. Among the best measuring amps, probably. An amp with good build quality that will last and hold its value? Probably not.

I owned it over a year and use it every day with no problem at all. The build quality is very good and paid $400.00 when it was in high demands, with the price reduced to $300.00. I do not think that you can buy a better amp than this.

I agree it's probably a good value. I'm just not impressed with it from other points of view. I have gear decades old. One year of daily service is not that impressive in the grand scheme of things. Let's discuss it again in 2030 :D

HA HA ! That is funny man. Let's discuss it again in 2030 :L3000:, I will be 70 years old and may not be here to discuss it. Let's enjoy our music to the max, have a great day.

Any 200-500 dollar amp/dac that can drive these?

Have looked at pro-ject pre box s2 digital.
JDS Atom DAC/AMP, Schiit Modi 3+ Magni 3+/Heresy, JDS Element II, and the iFi Micro BL can power an Argon without a problem.

The Pro-ject pre box S2 DACcomponent seems to be good performing. Can't see anything about its amp component though.

I use a liquid spark and it drives them well, its 1.3watts at 50 ohms. I would think as long as you are able to push over a watt into them you should be good. I have a schitt hersey and its 1.6watts at 50 ohms only because I need two small amps due to my job and the amount of travel time I'll post up if the extra 300 milliwatts is noticeable.

THX amps are not balanced AFAIK. Apparently they have better output out of the XLR jack though.
Depends on the model. The SP200 has the same power from either output. Still lots of power. Just depends on whether or not you like the sound.

Thanks. To be honest I'm bored with the hype and hoopla around these boxes. I plan to never buy one.

I sold my SP200 about a week ago. Not my kind of sound.

Do you have Argons?

No, I started looking into the options. From what I can tell almost everybody hates the stock 50 and 60 models and the Modhouse versions seem to be universally loved. I'm debating whether to order some because of the cost of importing anything and the crappy situations lately.
