I can never seem to leave good enough alone. About a month ago i sold my Musiland DAC to a friend because I'm in need of money. I bought this as a reasonably priced replacement. Anyways, i wont bore you guys with those details.
First of all this DAC, stock, sounds fantastic! using the SPDIF coax. USB.......not so much. Its bass wasn't as strong as the Musiland but i have now solved that issue. Two weeks ago I decided to mod it. It came stock with a 150uF 63v Nichicon PF(M) cap for the power supply. I replaced that with a Panasonic 560uF 35v FM. After 3 days of letting it run 24/7 (36 hours) I gave it another listen. The bass is back!! I havent had the Musiland for about a month so I don't really remember what exactly the bass levels were at but this is damn close.
I also replaced the stock LT1364 op-amp with an LM4562. This mod I'm not so sure about. I really cant tell a difference between this and the stock op-amp. I had my GF randomly swap them when i would leave the room but i could never guess which was which. Oh well
