I am going to get it and a Beresford TC-7510 and A>B it with the Zhalou 2.5C stock. Basically a budget shootout for what might be the best bang for the buck setup going.

I got mine from MisterX earlier this week (high performance version w/ad8397). It's a really nice amp and to my ears and easily outperforms the go-vibe v6 w/ 8397 + 822 opamps. It's good enough to at least make me think about possibly selling my hornet.

I'd like to have one built by Mr X and I just sent him an email regarding this. What is he charging for a Mini3?

Just wait for his reply. It's affordable.

Hey how is the synergy with mini 3 and pk1?

If you specify what kind of sound you like Marshall can adjust it to suit. The XP he used to build was very like the Hornet M. LOADS of bass impact in the one I had.

I'm still burning the amp in. The high performance version's battery only lasts around 6-7 hours.

I think the synergy is excellent. I'm hearing a very slight roll-off of the highest treble which to some may tame the pk1's. Also, the bass is excellent and fills in the bottom end which many people feel the pk1's lack. Overall, the sound is a lot of fun while maintaining great detail.

It's been a while since I've listened to a PINT. From memory, I think the mini3 has all of the bass impact plus better soundstage and clarity. To me the PINT had a forward sound with a small soundstage. The mini3 has a wide soundstage very similar to my hornet "m".

So you compared the Mini3 to Hornet already and it seems Mini3 is the winner, right?

My super PPA was done two days ago, I will build my premium version of Mini3 shortly with special sourced(from my friend, the SCN specialist) tiny polyphenylene sulfide caps which fit the size of original cap position perfectly, much better branded/quality jacks, all (matched) 1% metal film resisters throughout the circuit board(the standard version uses one carbon film resister)....... Not sure how better it is than the standard version, but I will see later......

I think that he's saying that the mini 3 is almost as good as the Hornet and costs less. The Hornet has much better battery life and is smaller so you pay more for that and the build quality and case ray uses is premium military spec too. Still, I would choose the mini too just b/c it allows me to spend $$ on source or new cans.

Thanks very much!!

My build quality(on the part which I can control) meets premium military spec too, so Mini3 is my way to go.....

This pretty much sums it up. The hornet is a better amp but there are far more similarities than differences between the two. If you're on a budget the mini3 is a great amp but if the extra cost doesn't matter the hornet is still the way to go.
