Is it possible/advisable to wire a MINT up with no volume control? The source I will be using has no line out, so I have to use the headphone jack......

And don't really see the point of having to fiddle with 2 volume controls at once.

Check out the original cmoy article on Headwize. The first schematic shows an amp with no volume control, the second one adds a pot. If you're only going to be using this with an amped source, it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure to set the gain appropriately.

or - leave the gain as is and add simple resistor divider on the input (just like pot but this will be fixed value).. say input going through 20k than to amp AND through 5k to the ground.

The simplest way to mod the board to allow this is to put two jumpers across the pot position on the board, from each channel's input to the wiper. See the pot's datasheet for the pinout. The advantage of this over skipping past the pot entirely is that you would then have to find a way to tie each input wire to the C1 cap, and there really isn't much room around C1 to do that.

I think if you do skip the pot it would still be advisable (or cool, anyway) to connect a switch to allow selectable gain.

So you're saying I can tie L input, L wiper, and L C1 all together, and repeat for R channel? At least that's what I thought you said......I could be wrong, however, and if I am, please let me know.......lolol

L wiper is already connected to C1. Tie input to C1, or the pot pins that connect to C1. One of the pot connections is ground, which would short out your source.

Not working, and I don't know if something else is wrong, or if my wiring is wrong on the pot-bypass. I think I'll just get a pot for it after all.

Two jumpers: L input to L wiper, and same for right. Looking at the board from the top with the pot side towards you, it's pin 1 to 6 and 4 to 5.

Yep, that's how I had it wired, but no luck....Time to troubleshoot, I spose........
