Recently came across a software minimum phase filter implementation for squeezebox server on the slimdevices forum. Tried it out and it made a remarkable change in the output quality of my SB3 and Transporter (both are used with external DACs).
All that's required is to put the below command into the "convert.conf" in the squeezeserver directory:
replace:
"
flc flc * *
-
"
WITH
"
flc flc * *
[sox] -v0.995 -q -t wav - -t flac -C0 -b24 - rate -b 85 -Mav 96k
"
restart the SBS and you are all set.
I tried this with SBS 7.5.3 and 7.5.4; I think 7.4.0 is the first version to implement sox, but I would get get the later version just so you have the latest sox executable.
I was ready to get the QB9, but now I think I will stick with my existing setup for a bit longer.
