Hello all,

I've been having a PM conversation with sacd lover about an amp for my new RS1s, and have decided on a Millett MiniMax from Whiplash Audio. The question is to do with the PSU. As the amp comes with a "24VAC, 750mA wall plug power transformer (for 120V wall outlet)", I can't use it in the UK and need a different one for the UK voltage (230V).

I found this from a good website at a good price,

http://cpc.farnell.com/stontronics/t...equestid=74123

It seems to be just what I'm looking for, but I figure I'd ask those who know more about this first just to be sure.

Thanks guys.

Yes, that one looks like it will do the job - the connector is the correct size, too (2.1mm). Farnell says "Awaiting Delivery" though - I hope that doesn't mean you have to wait too long.

Hi tomb, thanks for the quick reply.

I hadn't noticed the availability. On the other Farnell website (for some odd reason there's 2), they have pretty much the exact same PSU that will cost £3 more than the one on the CPC site (including tax and shipping), with 40 left. I'll probably end up going with that one, although I'll probably hold off ordering the PSU while I'm waiting for the amp itself.

There's also 120V - 230V convertors available, too, although I'm not sure where to find them. One of those would let you plug in the power supply that comes with the MiniMAX. However, I wanted to give you a quick answer on the one you asked about, but I usually depend on ruZZ.il for European adapter advice. Maybe he'll see this and let you know of some other possibilities, too.

Hey,

Yeah, I did a fair bit of searching on voltage converters. The price of them wasn't that much different to that PSU, so I figure it might just be better to get the PSU and have one thing plugged into the wall instead of connecting two things together.

Any more input is more than welcome.

Hey,

I've got this one, it is probably a bit overkill but the price is damn nice.
They don't charge shipping and I've never get problems with import taxes from them

DealExtreme: $18.13 100W Laptop Power Adapter 3-Piece Kit (15V-24V Output)

Thanks for the effort, but sorry - that outputs in DC voltage and it won't work.

Sacd lover sent me a PM linking me to a post made by Whiplash Audio earlier today. They're now doing a 220V version if you email them. Here's the link:

Just thought I'd post it here in case anyone is interested in this topic.
