I am curious about how a Millet Hybrid amp would sound with my Senn HD600 and my Grado 325i. I'm currently listening to them through my Gilmore Lite, with a NAD C 512BEE.

I don't have a lot of experience with amps. In addition to the G Lite I also have a Portaphile for comparison. My understanding is that the G Lite is an analytical amp which doesn't color the sound of the source at all, or very little. I've noticed that the Portaphile is a bit brighter than the Lite. Other than that, I have never heard any other amps.

After reading a lot of posts here over the last year or so, I have come to understand that a tube amp will tend to "warm up" a headphone. I take this to mean that a Millet Hybrid may take a bit of the edge off of my 325i, and probably not be well suited for my HD600 (since I do prefer a slightly brighter presentation). I like the way my Senns sound out of the G Lite, even though they do sound a bit rolled off at the top compared to my 325i (I have 49 year-old ears).

So my question is:

Are my assumptions correct? and what are some opinions regarding my two main headphones (and source) combined with a Millet Hybrid amp?

There are currently two available in the FS forum and I'm tempted....

The millet did not take the harshness out of the 325i's when I had them. I should note that I am very sensitive to bright gear to be fair. I have the 580's and I love the Millet+580 combo. It's very warm and lush, but that sounds like it might be too much for you as you prefer a brighter presentaton.

The Millet brought *almost* everything into balance for me and my 325i. I wanted a little lower end slam, but that was minor, compared to how much better my Grados sounded. IMO they are a GREAT match with awesome synergy.

The 600, however, I was not to impressed with. I'm a bit on the fence about the Senn sound, and the Millet put it just on the "sorry too boring for me" side.
