MIDI Instruments: Any With "Trombone-like" Functionality for Pitch?

I like the idea of a MIDI instrument where it is very intuitive to change pitch. The trombone seems a good mechanism to achieve this. Are there any MIDI instruments that have a function similar to that of a trombone?

You know you can apply "pitch bend" to any MIDI instrument on any individual note, right?

I'm fairly sure it's possible to hook up a theremin as a midi controller. That might work.

Hi ASR! Yes, I know this, but I would like to have a physical means for doing this as I play, rather than doing it through software or through a dial on a keyboard. The dial on the keyboard is not what I want because I like very much the way that the breath can control the volume in these midi controllers, so that it, too, is able to be edited smoothly (with a keyboard, the volume is controlled by how hard you press the key initially; you can not manipulate it as you can with a woodwind.)

Any ideas of products?
