For a Bass heavy IEM would you still prefer the red to the Pulse? How is the build quality between the two?
it's not the red but the one Rhapsodio Golden MK4 cable, yes transient just a little less vs CleoII, but mid and sub bass was nicely rumble with golden RSD cable , i use black module: technically and musically sounds incredible with stock cable , open/clarity/smooth and deep impact with CleoII, BUT dynamic and crispier of Rn6 nature + RSD Golden with addictive rumble is nice feeling . If you like bass, this is the one i recommended ( so cheap for quality , and go for 8 braid if you wish)
regards

is there a good 4w or 8w cable that has something similar to Effect Audio's conX and termX connectors for around $150? I Something that has mmcx, 2pin and then swappable terminations - 2.5, 3.5, 4.4 and USB-C.

I don't think there's anything on the market that versatile just yet, especially with USB-C and for $150. The closest would probably be the new Kinera MIA cable at $129.

Last month I bought a bunch of different cables on AliExpress just to try, and found out that although it was fun to try, many of these beautiful cables promote fancy looks and fancy winding. Yet most all were guilty of altering the sound to some degree, instead of just focusing on clarity.

There seems to be a common issue of top end variances. Different levels of top end clarity, and top end illusion of openness.
I am thinking it may be due to lack of channel shielding or thinness of the soft insulating material (PVC, cloth, etc).

Agree, few of AE was legit and use accurated description their product, but sadly most of them was soldered poor (cheap std solder paste) , they don't sand out coating before soldered, clean with deoxit or pure alcohol after solder, and most use cheap brass connector (plating : cheap gold, silver, rhodium, etc) , and i didn't question about their claim of quality conductor etc.. i work for military and we use only specific method ( derivate from NAVAIR 01-1A-23 HMWS-1 and NAVSEA SE004-AK-TRS-010/2M ) approval with specific material for specific application parts, mostly use Kester 443-845 24-9574-7618 and rosin core Kester 24-6337-009, both are good and finally treat with STABILANT 22 ( not 22A diluated) to prevent oxide and better contact overtime, conclusion better quality terminate connectors with good soldering helps
note: few product on market help to prevent oxidation, and stabilant22 is one we use to treat and protect better electronic components and connections

I read praise concerning Penon. We sell the qualities of the G4 for Solaris. So I told myself that I would like to test this.It took me very badly. I receive the G4 this morning, with the MMCX connectors completely rotten.A real scandal. Never seen that in my life and I have cables. The quality is rotten. How can we boast a cable to this point with this kind of defect. Unable to connect the left side I did not insist for fear of destroying my OG Solaris.

Yea this is how their cables are made:

They either use a red marker to mark the positive or just forget to mark it.

It is really scandalous. At this price level we do correct work anyway. I saw much better vanities much better. And if we are talking about MMCX connectors, even on a dunu lyre min to 25 dollars is light years away. At the same time dunu is a very serious brand also with well finished gear

Yea I have opened up the barrel of every single after market cable I bought and they clearly make their cables in the most unprofessional way I can think of.
