Well....here it is, an assembled prototype of the "Mint-Tin" KGCA. Unfortunately, I don't have an adaquate ps to test out the amp and it's driving me nuts

Dude, looks great! Hopefully, somebody in your area will loan or make a decent PS for this! Did you decide if you are going to use the exact Gilmore PS, or a "good" generic?
I know how you must feel, having that completed, and not being able to play it! Maybe check out ebay for a dual lambda PS or bench supply, that would always be good to have in the "lab"!

Yeah? Well I have this great PS, but no gilmore to test it out with... and it's driving me nuts. Bummer I'm so damn far away.

As promised here' my intial impression of the KGCA amplifier:

Equipment used:
HD600's
Sony PCDP
Elpac WM072 power supply

Music:
LOTR soundtrack
Gladiator soundtrack
I Am Sam soundtrack
Various MP3 burned CD's

Review:
Wow!!! This amplifier is just really amzing. At first the highs sounded rather bright and painful. The mids were very controlled. But after letting the amp burn in for just a few hours while I was at school, the amplifier turned in to a competely different beast. The highs were now a lot more soothing to listen to, the mids remains rather unchanged, and the bass sounds really powerful and at the same time controlled. I can't really tell you how it compares with other amps in the same class but for what it's worth, it sounds more refined than my Cmoy

and my "Maxed out" Meta42. The Meta42 comes close. Well...my Meta42 just sounds different.

So... no surprises stuffing and soldering?
Sounds good?
All systems go?

Thank you for taking the time and expense of doing a proto run on this. At ease, now.

No surprises. Soldering the components wasn't difficult at all. I've redone some of the traces to increase the gap between the thru-holes inorder to prevent bridging. But other than that everything is finished including the BB provisions

I'm btw in the search of of a power supply for this thing (I don't really want to play with 220V). i'm thinking to get this one : condor HAD12-0.4-A+ (dual output +/-12V, linear, open frame, 4.88"/4.00"/1.63", $43/each). If I'm able to read the datasheet, the stats look quite good : http://www.alliedelec.com/catalog/pf.asp?FN=569.pdf

I would put it in a separate enclosure, to minimize the size of the amp on my desk and allow me to play with a fancy small enclosure. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea to have two cables getting out to feed + and - or if I should buy a single output 24V and put a rail splitter into the amp enclosure itself ?

The original Gilmore runs at +/- 16.4 volts, more info HERE

I would shoot for what THE MAN, KG, says it should be and what the ckt. is designed for!
