Hi everyone,
Since I bought the Soundblaster X7 external DAC/AMP from Creative, I have tried different headphones (gaming) and mic's because everytime I'm talking to friends in Skype or Teamspeak, they always say I sound like I'm under water or robotic...
Setup 1 : Sennheiser Game zero with boom-mic connected to the SB X7 = horrible sound to my friends with the mic ; I tried different settings and so on (I even replaced my Game zero with a new game zero under warranty(they didn't even check if it was broken or not just replaced it)), till I read about other users who claim that Creative doesn't provide good drivers for the mic input!
Setup 2 : Sennheider HD598 with antlion mod-mic connected to the SB X7 = same robotic sound or under water sound. Here also tried different settings, nothing seems to work properly.
When I tried to connect these microphones via the mobo, the problems stay : also static noise and so on.....
I came to the conclusion that : if Creative doesn't provide the drivers needed for the mic/mic array then I'd try another setup, so I bought a simple 3.5mm jack-to-USB converter and try via the USB port. This usb dongle is in fact a little soundcard on it's own but I only use it for the mic connection. Verdict : the sound of the mic stays horrible.
In search of other things I came across a forum where people talk about "ground loops" giving horrible noises to good mics also and so on... So I wanted your opinion or help on what I should try next or what is a good testing ground to see what is happening here for real??? Because I really can't believe that all my mics I got where bad products.
I use a Corsair 380T case with water-cooling for the chipset which is a i7 and inside is also a GTX970 video card.
Do you need more info and can you help me figure out what is going on here??
Thx.
