Hello guys for all you MG Head users I found a pleasant little tube that does not cost a lot and is very nice.I have a lot of tubes all the best ones and one that I can only say is a very suprising tube is the Sovtek 7025 or 12AX7 WA
not the regular Sovtek 12AX7 these tubes are diffrent and do sound diffrent. If you can find ones that say 7025 12AX7 WA I think you will be rewarded with a very pleasant suprise they go for about 5.00$ and are well worth it.I dont know how they will work in other amps but in the MG Head they rival or surpass even the very best tubes.Try one you will like them.

Have to be a little careful on ebay i have bought several Sovtek tubes off there and if you dont ask them if they say 7025 on them they will tell you they are the same and they are not.The 7025 Sovtek tube has a lot more focus then a regular 12AX7 tube.Check to make sure.

What do you think? Judging from the pictures it looks like it probably says 7025 on the tube (I can see the 25 at least on the left.) I have e-mailed the seller to be sure.

I know what it says that is why I am telling you to ask them. This is another case someone is trying to help you.I bought tubes from that very person one of them was a real 7025 tube one was not.a lot of the people who sell tubes dont know any thing about them except how to sell them mostly on ebay.Believe me ask first they just assume they are the same will even send them to you saying they are the same and when you get them they are just regular 12AX7 tubes not 7025 tubes.

Good move you know Asterix being older does have an advantage in that I made a lot of the same mistakes younger people did a long time ago.A lot of time I wish I would have been wiser back then and listened more. Now I try to take more time with people so they wont have to make the same mistakes older people can turn younger ones off by the way they say things meaning to help but not helping by not taking the time to say it right.I hope I am taking the time to say it right. We are never to old to listen either.

It's easy when you are young to be really hard-headed about things even when you are not entirely informed of the facts.

I appreciate your suggestions. In the end I guess it all comes down to what our own ears tell us. "Different strokes for different folks." But I have not tried as many tubes as you have so I'm interested to know what your 'top picks' are to see if I may like them also. I am looking forward to recieving and testing out the various tubes I have ordered recently!

They responded to my e-mail explaining that the tubes are designated 12AX7/7025, which is the industrial equivalent of the 12AX7, they have been ruggedized and tend to be lower noise and less microphonic than the regular 12AX7.
