Proved that despite its huge size the CD3000 can be shoved down one's throat.

There should be a recording done from the master tape at some point, in any format, that is logic, the master tape is the only real recording from the band, someone used it to make the copies or to master the first one. I do not beleive that the DCC is the only copy from the master tape. BTW we all know now that it is not even such, at least partially, as Steve did his magic/tricks there.
My point is not that it sounds or not good, probably it does, as all of Steve's work, my point is that I would not pay that much for it knowing this now, I would feel that someone was cheating me. It will be now probably a hard to find, as it was released some time ago and probably is out of print, etc......
BTW I have the remastered version and I can tell you that the recording is not bad at all, it is not the same quality of other masterpieces we have released, but it is good, and IMO in general Ian Anderson recorded at least decent his stuff, with a couple of exceptions of early stuff, not only Jethrotull his individual albums are well done as well....
The DCC is the only CD cut from the original master tape. It's the only game in town, the remaster is compressed and no-noised, the original isn't great, either and it's not a great recording to begin with. |
