They pair up very well , much better than the stock jan 6922 tube , more detailed and smoothier. Any xcans owner can try mullards especially if you have a bright sounding cd player. I haven't try the tungsol or siemens yet but hope to listen to them one day.

oh, Really?

I didn't try any mullard on the Xcan V3. What type of mullard do you use? I did spend some times on the amp with siemens, amperex, philips, EH, and TFK. They all perform ouytstanding, I personally love old philips and TFK the most.

Yes the Mullards are lovely, but also quite expensive, not that that's a problem ! Personally I have the Russian reflector corp valves in my xcan and they are stunning and my are my all time favourite and are alot chaeper that the mullards if you can find them. If you love the xcan have a look at the ultimate xcan mod sight, they also review all the valves in it.

It is www.rock-grotto.co.uk - I also recommend changing the cheap jamicon capacitors inside it, this provides an even bigger difference than changing the valves !

Good luck my xcan is my fav piece of audio equipment !!!!

6DJ8 Mullards aren't that expensive but still great sounding. I just bought a pair to complement my Amperex tubes. They should fit V3.

Yes on the caps. Mr. PinkFloyd himself did it on my V3 and the improvement is amazing. I also got the russian tubes and they are so warm, punchy, and detailed.

Are you refering to the 6H23 [so called] Supertube?? It is considered the ultimate for the X-Cans...

Mullards are very nice sounding valves in the X-CAN amps "if" you can get hold of a genuine pair of NOS and not a pair that look new but are pretty much knackered. They're becomming pretty scarce now and there are a few fakes going around. You can spot a genuine Mullard if it has 4 seams on the top of the valve and if the paint is like chalk and comes off easily it's probably genuine. If it's smooth on the top (no seams in the glass) and the paint is as hard as rock it's likely it's a fake. Bit on the Mullards here.

The 6H23N-EB are very good valves for the money too. I was getting them for £5 a pair and then said "oooh these sound good" the guy has put them up to £35 a pair now. Another one worth considering is the 6N1P, very cheap but gorgeous sound, even though the heater current is 100% more than the 6922/E88CC it works perfectly in the X-Series of amps.
