I've read in one of the posts that the MS-AK120 can drive high impedance headphones and the HD800 was even mentioned.  What is "enough" loudness can be subjective so can you provide the output voltage swing of the MS-AK120?

Resurrecting this old thread...
I received my ak120 back from Mezzo mod with Music Sanctuary. Finally a Wolfson implementation I like! I've only used it with my Pinnacle P1 but so far I'm very pleased with the sound. Easy going and musical without losing detail or sounding overly warm and murky like the stock AK120. My only complaint is that the volume knob is quite sensitive if bumped. A nice way to put some much needed life into an AK120 that's just gathering dust.

Does anyone know of the 3.5mm balanced out uses the same configuration as the ak 2.5mm?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a new headphone for my MS-AK120.
I actually use an Sennheiser Amperior... But i think (now) this is not the best pairing...
Maybe the Amperior is not "high end enough" to listen to the best of thid DAP can offer.

I'm looking for a portable headphone i can go out with.

Someone suggests me to have a look to the Meze 99 Classic or the Oppo PM3.
What do you think of those headphones ?
Does the MS-AK120 have enough voltage to drive an Oppo PM3 ?

Does the MS-AK120 have enough voltage to drive correctly / optimally an Oppo PM3 ?
I mean, without amping.

Obviously on many DAP, Oppo PM3, when amped, delivers a best sounding than without...
And don't want to carry an amp with me...
