I almost want to own these because of their looks... Can't wait for some impressions of these!

I checked them out at the show for like a hot second. Not a fan of their looks, and for the price, I was doubly-put-off by them. It didn't help that the Susvara and Abyss were right next to them. Sonically, the latter two were muuch more compelling, though to be fair they're in a difference price bracket, and I only bothered to listen to the Meze for like two minutes...

The empyrean sounded very good to me, better than Susvara, to me.
According to their presenter, the empyrean are designed for long listening sessions.
The sound is not bright, with a very mild touch of veilness.
The sound leak is very minimal.
Extremely comfortable.
The connector seemed to be the same as the Audeze LCD series
The cans' casing are entirely metal (presumably aluminum).
The ear pads are magnetically attached to the cans and can be pulled off and back on in 2 secs.
As far as today's presentation, I saw 3 different variants, all identical except the color, and the ear pads, i.e. different shapes, depth, etc.. as sound tunning measure.
As for the price, they say its not been fixed yet but it will be between $3000-$3500.
According to their main presenter (from their R&D), there will be only 500 units of these to be produced as the empyrean is only meant to be as a statement product.
They are targeting a May 2018 release.

But, how did they sound though?
But will it blend? Ha I want to have tomorrow before I make hard impressions. Also- supposedly everyone they had was tuned diffenrlty.... I want to confirm that is true tomrorow. That was second hand info I was given. But I will report back!

The pair I had was very neutral. They seem to genuinely want feedback on it

Only 500 units made... That is very disappointing.

Only 500 units made... That is very disappointing.
These are all marketing gimmicks to draw attention to their products and to justify an insane price. I can safely bet that if they manage to sell all 500 units at $3000+ (which I wish them to be able to, even if it will not be a piece of cake at that price), there will be a slightly modified second series, then maybe a closed version, and so on.
