Hey guys, is it me or are the mini-XLR plugs on the Meze cables a little hard to pull out of the Empyrean? I have the original 6.3 mm cable as well as another Meze Silver Plated upgrade cable. It seems like both use the exact same mini-XLR plugs and both are hard to detach from the headphone. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here...
I do have other mini-XLR cables from Cardas & Kimber, both are easy to detach.
I just asked this question a week or 2 ago. I was told that pressing the release button and pushing inward a little before release would make it easier to remove. I have done so and it is still pretty snug. I am having a Norne S3 cable made and hope Eidolic mini XLR are easier to remove. I absolutely love the Empy's other than that small issue.
I know when I order a cable from Trevor I discuss with him what my goals are. As in what I want the headphone to improve upon. And he fine tuned a cable for me specifically. So even an sg3 cable can be tuned widely for sound. I have sent cables back to him to change and they come back looking the same however sounding different. As strand count is part of the tuning. Maybe talk to him and discuss what you want.
Actually that’s what I did do and after quite a few cables I ended up with the Draugh. I’m not a silver fan no matter who’s its from. With all that said, there’s no need cable I tried from anyone that comes even close to the Lazuli Reference that I now have.

Haha. Very true. I am pretty sure something in our brains work differently to most 'non-audiophile' people. Something like synesthesia. I think we experience music and sound in a much more sensitive and complex way, that's the reason we are ready to spend ungodly amount of money to enhance this experience.

Yes for without music life would not be worth living.
I bought myself a 2nd hand Hugo 2 and just ordered my Empyrean yestrerday morning.
This is absolutely worth it as I spend so much time with headphones in front of my computer.
Plus, it's not like this kind of gear is going to depreciate much anytime soon.

True. The problem comes however when an Empyrean comes out with Mk2 version, and then you drive yourself crazy thinking is it worth the upgrade or not?

You won! Empy definitely has exceptional synergy with all Chord DACs. The clarity, 3D space, imaging, natural tone is simply exceptional. Better than out of some TOTL SS amps.
