Sorry to resurrect an old topic - but I was wondering what the conclusion of your ringing investigation was?Yes, that's what I'm referring to. Tapping it creates an audible ping/ring. For me, this also happens when I talk and/or move my head.
I cannot detect this ringing of which you speak.Sorry to resurrect an old topic - but I was wondering what the conclusion of your ringing investigation was?
I bought a 109 from Meze at CanJam London a couple of weeks ago, and noticed a slight ringing when I moved. Like you I found it was the same as I could reproduce by tapping the ear cups / headband.
It’s about 350 Hz, but I think it resonates through the wood, so is louder when wearing the headphones
I’m a sound-engineer - so I ended up recording it and sending to Meze - who are arranging to get the headphones back.
A cable strap between the metal struts solved the issue - but is a bit ugly. I’ve attached a photo of my recording rig also showing the strap.
Given my job I’ve become quite good to listening for ringing sounds - so I perhaps find it more distracting that others!
Thanks for the review and your impressions.Hi all - hope everyone is well.
Just in case anyone is interested, have just posted a review of the 109 Pro - a little late to this party, but these are a great set of cans for the price. Comparisons with two other woody cans (Altiat Cal.1H and ZMF Bokeh) in there is well for any wooden headphone afficionados.

Interesting that you highlight the headband resonance that I mention above (which it seems not everyone has).Hi all - hope everyone is well.

It's not a problem with normal listening, it is just noticeable that when I ping or scrape the headband it goes off like a tuning fork in my ears. These aren't headphones made for lots of moving around though, so it's a non issue for me.Interesting that you highlight the headband resonance that I mention above (which it seems not everyone has).
Not had the pleasure of heading the Composer yet - I'm much more of an IEM guy, so have heard a lot less higher end over ears in comparison. Thanks for the review and your impressions.
Would you consider Austrian Audio, The Composer, as the next logical step after the 109 Pro?
