At least it is long enough to be comfortable for portable usage!

Meze cable is longer than Dj 1 Pro cable, making the short cable with the remote ideal for portable usage, but it is actually long enough to provide a comfortable laptop usage as well.

Is it just a short cable or short cable with remote. I'd rather not have a remote clocking me in the cheek/chin while listening. So for me, buying a pair of 99 Neo now means I need to buy cables. But I suppose +$20 for the their 3m cable isn't bad. Are there better cable options around a similar price +/ - $20?

I don't know that.

I had a bias before against remotes. I imagined they'd bring the SQ down, but after using 99C for a while, the remote doesn't affect the sound in any way

Got a pair to review today. From memory they are very reminiscent of the 99 Classics and are like these headphones very comfortable. Their ability to sound so open and still balanced is quite impressive.

Looking forward to getting to know them better over the next several weeks.

For some reason, when I preordered them I assumed the accessories would be the same as the classics. May I ask you then which cable will be included? I only need the longer one withot mics or buttons...
Also, there will be the hard case included?
Thanks!

The 99 Neo will come with just the short cable with the mic. And yes, there will be a hard case included.

It's bad news, but thanks MezeTeam

Well, we wanted to "unclutter" the package of the 99 Neo.

We still offer the long cable as an accessory on our website so you will be able to get it as well.

Not sure if you're in the US, but you can get a cable extender cheaply from Amazon. Link: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_7_18?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=headphone+cable+extension+6ft&sprefix=headphone+cable+ex%2Caps%2C202&crid=2LW19CLMD01JL.

Thanks shuto77. No I'm not in the US but we have cheap cable extensions over here too. I never liked extensions though, and more important I have a profound and perhaps irrational hate for remotes.
I had the chance to see and briefly hold a pair of 99 neo at an exhibition. They had the long cable attached and I was told by the local distributor they would come with the same accessories as the classics, with the only difference being the earcups made of plastic instead of wood. Thats the reason why I preordered a pair at what I thought was a competitive price.
I know I can get the long cable from their website but at an extra cost. It's not much, but I'm not too happy to be honest. I now also have the legitimate doubt that the ear pads might not be the same as the ones I saw and tried on. Basically, I don't know what I bought anymore.

You bought a product that was not officially released yet. That is always a gamble. It is natural for the details to be in flux right up to the point they ship those first units.

Hey @Sorgiulio

I understand your frustration. I suggest you only take the definite information about the product from Meze Audio directly either via email or here on Head-Fi. We personally take care of this account so we have all the concrete information. If we don't, then we do not just release information.

If you'll visit the 99 Neo pre-order page on our website, you will see all the accessories that come within the package. https://mezeaudio.eu/collections/all/products/99-neo

As for the accessories, the package will contain the following:

1 Hard carrying case
1 Meze 99 Neo
1 Jack adapter
1 Short cable with Mic
1 Carrying pouch

I hope this has cleared your doubts, Sorgiulio. Whenever you have questions, just write to us, either here or at support@mezeaudio.com. We'll be more than happy to help you out whenever we can!

Can anyone suggest a shorter cable (1.5 meters) with no mic that would work well with Meze 99 headphone? Similarly priced to the Meze 3 meter cable ($20). Thanks!

If you didn't have a 99 C before, don't judge the cable yet.

It works really well for me, and the remote is not a bother at all.

I am easily bothered by remotes and I actually was afraid to buy FiiO X5-2 when it was first released out of fear for in-line remote control having an impact on sound...

All in all, the remote in 99C doesn't change the sound at all to my ears - compared to the cable without remote - so I expect the cable that comes with 99N to be similarly good as well!
