Thanks @Lurk650 for the heads up on the Shure pads. I had a set kicking around and have put them on, I am loving them.

The best way I can describe the change to me is that it feels like a layer of warm reverb has been taken away which opens up the sound beautifully.

YAXI stPad2 arrived today. Clearly more comfortable compared to the original Meze 99 pads.
Also the sound is pushed more out of the head with them. Bass is more dry.

Also bought the balanced cable from Meze and use it with an adapter with my Sony NW-ZX2, which is kind of pseudo balanced.
Great improvement!

If a driver fails, can you purchase a replacement? from where?

If the product is under warranty, we'd ask your reseller. Other than this, that's a good question.

I had bad experience with the durability of synthethic leather earpads. They just got damaged after about a year of use! Maybe because of hot and humid weather. So I was looking for genuine leather ones and I have just got those:

Not sure if they are genuine "sheep skin" but they look good and feel good! A little deeper than the stock earpads, little better noise isolation. Those earpads do not change the sound much. They may have tighter bass anyway but not much ..

What are the dimensions of the pads, most importantly the depth?

These look gloriously comfy, we assume more than stock pads?
