It won't make it a bright or light sounding headphone , the bass is still there, but indeed much more controlled and in balance. Just let us know after you've received it what your experience is.

Silver plated connection not a true silver core cable. My cable from Triton is a true silver core cable, I'm still not sold completely on Silver vs Copper. The treble appears to be more crisp but that could just be the 2 DACs in Balanced vs the 1 DAC in SE in my 300R

R6 might not get Amiron loud enough, you'd probably need at least FiiO A5 or FiiO Q5 with AM05 to get them loud enough, although you might be listening far quieter than me...

For sonics,

They are almost nothing alike, Meze 99C is thick, bassy, warm, smooth, ClosedBack,

Amiron Home is soft, bass-tight, musical, brighter, open, OpenBack, Large and well-separated, natural instead of thick and warm

You will feel way less bass when going form 99C to Amiron, so if you prefer bass, then there are other headphones even from Beyerdynamic that serve that, Amiron Home really is ever so slightly above neutral in terms of bass

As he said, two very different headphones. I run both balanced from my 300R

The Amiron is no slouch though with bass, give it some power and it can produce quite a bit

Agreed, but it never is a bass-heavy headphone kinda like 99C, it stays within what I'd call tight and somewhat neutral.

I had the 400i, sold them. Good phones but I finally realized that the planar sound just isn't for me apparently.

Can't remember much of the 400i. I do know that of course the 99C has more bass, I needed Sheepskin pads to get some bass out of the 400i

Dead driver. Flipping the cable, same driver dead. Oh well.........Anyone else see or hear of any DOA?
