I bought the Maple 99 Classics after being told by Meze that all three colors had the same size ear pads. Now I find out that the other ones with the Black pads had been given larger pads. I was very disappointed in their original response as I would not have ordered the Maple 99s had I known I was buying too small pads. They have told be that they will send me the new larger pads once they are manufactured. Has anyone else been told about this issue with the smaller pads on the Maple version.

Hey @Sweetness2309

We never did and never will give false information out. As a matter of fact, the larger earpads for the Maple Silver version are in the prototyping stage. Rest assure, as soon as we will have more concrete information, we will release it to the forums, as we did with our previous development stages. Just ask the guys around, we're sure they will vouch for us regarding this. Thank you for your patience and for understanding.

Best regards,

The Meze Team

I'm sure there must be a misunderstanding. I love my Maple Headphones, I just wish that they had the larger cups. On August 30 2016, Razvan H. wrote saying that all three had the same size cups. At that time I had already read on this site that larger cups were on one of the other 99's. You have a great product. You have promised to send me the larger pads once they are available. I'm a happy customer. All I was wanting to know is if the larger ones on the other ones make a difference in sound.

I plan on posting my impressions of the 99 Classics at some point, but my experience echo's a lot of what has been said in the 1460 posts so far (took me a week to get through them all!) I love the sound and design of these headphones - they really are something special.

The one thing I haven't heard anyone touch on is walking outside with these cans on. For me, the elastic band stretches with every step I take as gravity + momentum cause the earcups to move in the opposite direction of my body. Walking outside exerts more force against your feet than inside because shoes on pavement impacts harder than socks on hardwood/carpet, which results in enough force to stretch the elastic in the headband. This means I can hear the headband and elastic rubbing with every step I take, making it almost impossible to enjoy music.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can hear an exaggerated effect by wearing the headphones and lightly jumping up and down (if you try this, please post a selfie - it would be incredibly entertaining  ).

Anyway, this drives me nuts to the point where my 99 Classics mostly sit unused in their case because I can't really use them on my commute, which is what I wanted them for :frowning2:

I'm curious if I'm not the only one, or maybe I'm the only person wearing these outside, or maybe I'm just crazy.

Cheers!

No you are not the only one. I am fine with it because I don't use them out and about. When you walk with them on you can hear it adjusting on your head. It is the same sound you hear when you first place them on your head as it adjusts.

Well, I may not see the point of a whole thread dedicated to wood grain, but I am quite taken with the markings on mine. :D

You fine folk at Meze have made a striking piece of art, with the 99 Classics. Congratulations.

And thanks to Greed for selling them to me.

PS.
Driving these from the beefy NFB-28.... WOW! They scale tremendously with proper amperage.

If i'm walking at a slow pace this definitely does not happen. An extremely brisk walk perhaps. Then again i don't think these are meant as active outdoor headphones. While commuting i don't seem to be having any problems to be honest.

@MezeTeam Did you change the short cable (after the Y splitter) ? As i reckon the portion after the Y splitter was also some kind of fabric coating which is not there anymore.

Yes, as I said it doesn't bother me. However the OP of the issue was asking if anyone else had the issue as they are not usable for what he purchased them for.

@subguy812 Doesn't bother you and doesn't happen in my instance. two completely different things. I reckon over a period of time the elastic band will loosen a little making any kind of strong pull a thing of the past.

As i said earlier when i wear them and walk and i face no issues with them.

Much obliged!

About the thread, we want to get as many photos of the different wood patterns in one place. Sometimes we run into some gorgeous patterns ourselves.

Is anyone using the 99 Classics straight from an A&K AK Jr or Ibasso DX80? Need a new dap and those are the two I'm stuck between, so any impressions with the 99 Classics would be awesome. :D

The 99 Classics are supremely easy to drive. Any half-decent player will get them kicking. Focus instead on which DAP you want based on features and sound characteristics, and rest comfortably knowing they will manage your Meze well.

I was mostly wondering based on sound signature. I've heard that the AK Jr is warm and I'm not sure how it will pair with the 99 Classics. I'm leaning toward it though, so I wanted to see if anyone had heard the combo and if it was a good pairing or not. The 99 Classics sound good out of my phone, much less a $500 DAP, so I'm sure it will drive it to ear splitting levels.
