I don’t think so. The Empyrean is a fine headphone but nothing like the HE-1’s sorry. I also don’t think the Classics destroys anything it is a very good headphone but I don’t think destroys anything as they are what they are and other headphones are what they are neither is better than the other just different.

And one important thing. I now using second pair of pads (thats calls - NEW OLD ORIGINAL pads) so they give less bass than stock pads (they give much more bass)

Old reviews (audiophil heavesn) was using what pads? NEw old pads or stock bassy pads? I thinks it has huge differnrce

The most important thing is : do you like that EQ-ed sound signature with your new earpads? (I think with the stock earpads it may be a little bit bassy). If you like the sound of that EQ, it is perfect! I also use that setting with 10 bands EQ and like it very much.

Yes, well I 'definitely prefer' the 99s over the 650s. My 650s are relegated strictly for video game use as they are my least favorite can for music.

That’s what’s so great about this hobby; I actually prefer the 600s. But that doesn’t mean I dislike the 99s in any way, I just have a different preference. Headphones are like food, we like what we like.

I like all my headphone equally (no matter the cost or people’s opinions) but for different reasons. If I didn’t like a headphone that I have, I wouldn't own it. I’ve sold or traded so many already that I’ve lost track.
For instance, when I want heavy bass, I go for the 99classic or HP3 as just 1 example. My 650’s get a lot of headtime because to me they’re smooth and I just can’t get enough of it’s mids. Different HP for different moods/attitude/genre.....etc.
Bottom line and I know I’m sounding like a broken record, I love the 99classics and will always have them.

I agree with your comments and I like the 650s for video games. When I want the clarity I'll put on the 800 or 800S, but if I want fun headphones that's the nightowls and now the 99s.

I don't use the 99's for gaming as they tend to get too hot. I use the 650's, but mostly, (and I might get some grind for this) I use my Audeze Lcd-2 for gaming as the bass and sound are just so natural, being open-backed they stay cooler as well.
