I would imagine that the construction between the Classics and the Noir are similar, if only because both headphones are supposed to share basically the same parts list, and any broken/worn parts can be replaced by the end user.
I meant the pads, specifically, which have been redesigned like 4 times over lol

I find I prefer the sound of the 99's... They are also slightly more comfortable, but that isn't much of an issue for me
For us the 99 were less comfy (still comfy though!) than original HD 600. Your Hxx too big for you?

Got my noir, run-in for 3days. To me, small pads sounded a tad less muddy in the lows, compared with the larger one. I don't have classic or any other pads to test.
Running with Meze 2.5mm cable to xcan....the bass is not too much for me and I'm not a basshead. Listening mostly to jazz.
All I can say that is a great combo when running balanced with xcan !

How does the soundstage compare to the HD6xx?
I also own the HD6xx. Actually my kids do as I couldn't get past the soundstage.
Tone of the HD6xx was great. Soundstage meh! which killed them for me.
I found the Soundstage similar to the 99's in width and a little deeper with more precise imaging with standard cable... On balanced cable for 99's I like the Soundstage much better but haven't tested balanced with the Hd6xx yet

The 99's seem to respond much better to eq than the HD's without that I might like the sound of the HD's better... To me without eq, the 99s bass bleeds into low midrange and messes with male vocals especially... But with a little eq, I love them.

Excited to learn more about the upcoming 105s! :)

Well, I have never been accused of having a small head! :)

But HD's are a little tighter and the pads press slightly onto my face which is fatiguing after awhile.

it's the next iteration of the Classics, will have open and closed versions IIRC. I posted a picture of it a few months ago but no official news has come out.

Still have the picture handy, or know where to find it?

I'm really waiting on the Rai Solo, single DD. I love Meze and get the R&D but boy do they take a long time for new products
