Hi everyone,

Me getting a META42 is almost a forgone conclusion at this point but I have one question. Looking at Jan Meier's page on the corda prehead he mentions the LM6171 opamp instead of AD8610 for "superior" sound. Has anyone considered trying the LM6171 on a META if it's even possible? If it is, I'd be very interested in a price diff between the two opamps comparably equipped. Can anyone help me?

The LM6171/2 has bipolar inputs and requires fastidious bypassing and/or bandwidth control to deter oscillation. With great FET input opamps like the AD843 and AD8610 I don't feel the need to deal with bipolar opamps, but if you are really interested, check out Tangent's page on cranky opamps:

With sufficient inner loop gain and appropriate resistor values, the LM6172 should work in the META42.
