I noticed today that tangent's web site no longer offers META42 boards or Elantec buffers. Presumably the latter are all gone and the former are unavailable pending a redesign using a different buffer?

I know that Tangent and Morsel have been working on the next generation META board, so I believe you are correct on both counts.

Trouble with buffers is that many have proprietary pinout. So you need to change the layout for the new chip. Depending on complexity and board density it could be trivial 10 minute job or tedious few days job. Add the need to get the prototype board made and the complete process will take easily 1-2 months.

Phew

I thought Tangent had decided to stop selling them. I am glad that there will be a new Meta42 board comming out as I didn't want to jump straight from a CMOY to buildinga PPA .....

Pat (who's soldering is still horrible but at least the CMOY works)
