Although I only listened to the Corda HA-1 on an unfamiliar system, I think this would be the amp of choice for the 250-80. Granted the Corda is more expensive, but if you have no plans on getting better headphones, I say get a Corda.

Has anyone else out there heard about this? I just bought my first pair of "good" headphones last month with the purchase of a pair of DT250-80's. I like them a lot but am already shopping around for an amp. There is so much praise for the META42 that I thought getting them was a no-brainer, but this has made me think twice.

So is the META42 good with the DT250-80? Also, since I am using these headphones on my PC with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard, would I recieve enough of an increase in sound quality to make buying the amp worth it?

I don't get A&M's comments. The amp will always out perform the phones since the phones are a mechanical system limited by mass. I would suggest you ask Tangent what he thinks about this combination of phones and amp. He would be the most informed person on the sound of the META 42.

Half of what is said on the amplifier forum is nonsense.

In my opinion....
Yes, and Yes.

I used a meta42 with 250-80s and a Live 5.1

They worked well together.
The increase in sound quality was worth it to me.
The only reason I don't have the Meta anymore is because I bought a Gilmore.
