Just curious, as I've not seen it mentioned here in all the time I've been around. I stumbled across a review of this amp and it would seem to provide very good headphone listening capability. Here are excerpts from "The Inner Ear" review from a few years back. These nice looking, apparently solidly built, integrated tube amps, seem to be available on Audiogon for about $1000.00 used.

Tigris Integrated and Headphone Amplifier

"The headphone jack is wired directly to the output tubes through a load resistor instead of an IC-based op-amp. This feature makes it possible to use the Tigris as a sophisticated headphone amplifier
We have often asked ourselves why the industry renamed integrated amplifiers and call them headphone amplifiers. We didn't know, until now, that is. The Tigris' headphone output is derived from the power amplifier section, and is not merely another function to accommodate headphones. When the speaker/mute headphone/engage is selected, the Tigris converts to become a dedicated headphone amp-one of the best we have come across."

Based on your quote, you've probably seen this:

And here's a pic from a recent Audiogon auction:

(Don't know how long that link will last, but it's better than Mesa's website)
