Just got a new "SL". Many transfers to the DAP (but not all) end up in alphabetical order instead of album order. I did not have this problem with the "SP" I had. This is aggravating and unacceptable.

Any ideas out there as to what the issue is here?

Thanks much!

Not sure what you mean, but if you go into Browser, then everything will be listed in alphabetical order. Did you try going to Music > Albums in the main menu?

Or do you mean that in Browser the organization went like this:
file name - album

a - a
b - a
c - a
a - b
b - b
c - b

Or if I'm understanding correctly, you went into Music > Albums > Your Album, and the tracks are not in track order if that's what you're saying. Maybe you can try retagging your files with mp3tag. It'll take less than a second.

Download "mp3tag" from Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2)
With the program, add the music that doesn't sort correctly. Make sure the track number is correctly numbered. Then highlight all the music files, and click the Save button. I recommend that you make duplicates of your music file so that you don't mess up your tags. If the retagging works, you can delete the duplicated files.

huh? i thought i needed to retag and save each and every file by it's own. if i leave the file and highlight another one it deletes my retagging back to the original. how do i save them all in one time?

Hmm not sure about that. Lemme test with test files and I'll report my findings if my method is incorrect.

I mean do your editing to the individual files first, and then highlight them all, and then click the save button. Where it says <keep> or something similar, mp3tag should be smart enough to distinguish what has changed and what hasn't. If you highlighted the files, and then changed a field like track number, then all the saved files will have the same track number.

Edit: I think I know what you mean, woopididi. If you change the title, then you have to save individually. I was thinking in terms of album, where each album was the same. My apologies, you do have to save tags each time. But it should still be fast if you know what you're doing.

A faster solution may be to use mp3tag's filename -> tag feature, and change the tags that way. However, I believe it's faster to do individual editting.

Edit 2: There's also an autonumbering button that you can use. It numbers the tracks in order given that they're in the correct order.
