Hi guys, new member on here!

First, I want to thank the community for all the useful info found on here. I've been using this website for ages. I actually never felt the need to post anything because I could find everything I was looking for.

But today is different :-)

I'm interested by the new Meizu HD50.
It was released on November 11, but I couldn't find any review, here or elsewhere - except maybe for this one but it's not very detailed.

It looks quite good on paper, and Meizu has a good reputation in Chinese tech in general (similar to Xiaomi let's say).

The company makes a big deal of the HD50's ultra-fine bio-fiber diaphragm, which supposedly boasts a "distortion of less than 0.5%". They also praise a "dual sound chamber design".

Meizu claims a frequency range of 20-20000 Hz, sensitivity of 103 ± 3 dB and an impedance of 32 ohms.

They currently retail for 59$ shipped on GearBest.

So has anyone tested those babies ?
If not, what do you think ?

Thanks a lot,

Xavier

I purchased them yesterday from Everbuying (appears to be the same company as GearBest) and they were shipped today. The construction looks excellent and really premium. On paper, they should sound great, plus at $59 they seem like a steal. I will give my impressions when they arrive. I wouldn't be surprised if they sound similar to Meizu's rival, the Xiaomi Mi Headphones.

Hi I am a new member. I reached this thread searching for this topic. I am in doubt about buying Xiaomi or Meizu headphones. There is no audiophile review of meizu headphones and no side by side comparison with the Xiaomi headphones.

I found the same post that xavdevaux and before that, customer reviews in chinese in the jingdong site. Google translator is not very good.

If anyone can cast some light in this matter it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Here simple review of my all new MEIZU HD50. Just received few days ago along with 1More Hybrid. Worth the waiting time which nearly 1 month after my order.

Equipment=Xduoo X3 with Line Out
Amp=Fiio E11k/A3(High Gain only/ No Bass Boast)

Songs in FLAC
Within Temptation-Whole World Watching(instrucmental)
Within Temptation-Whole World Is Watching
Marina Kaye-Freeze You Out(Acoustic)
Marina Kaye-Homeless
The Corrs-Unconditional
The Gentle Storm-Endless Sea(storm version instrumental)
The Gentle Storm-Endless Sea(storm version)
2Cellos-The Resistance
Def Leppard-Hysteria

Here my 2cents OTB:

1.Build quality really damn solid. headband soft cushy leather, earpad very comfortable against the ear even after few hours.
brushed metal arm. even the mic controller made of brushed metal.
2.cable soft untangleable
3.fantastic isolation
4.clamping force just nice for me and the whole weight of the headphone just the right weight downforce resting on the head.
5.As for the sound, mind blasting. High, mid with fantastic details. bass just nice. Amazing sound, beats my Takstar Pro 80 and others.
(within the price range)

The building quality and the sound worth much much more than the retail selling price.

Buy Meizu HD50 headphone than Xiaomi. Xiaomi headphone is comparable to my Takstar HD5500. Too much bass. Gave it away. Meizu HD50 is a keeper.

comparisons between Pro80 and HD50?? I use Pro80 and the detail retrieval is outstanding. If something is available for similar price but more stylist and comfortable, I would definitely go for it.

i dont really like the slight warm sound of Takstar Pro 80. Bear in mind, this sound out of the box for Meizu HD50, no burn in yet. it will get better. for comfort, stylist and portable HD50 beat takstar hand down. I take as overall whole experience using Takstar Pro and HD50. Takstar clamp down on my ear a bit too much and give me sweaty ear after awhile using it.
And Takstar pro80 are available for $50 (without the case). Lets not forget that.

bought takstar pro80 from mp4nation so my price is on the high side but even at $50 on Takstar, i'll anytime choose HD50 for the comfort and portability. Put aside stylish, no one will look at mid 40yrs man using stylish headphone. hahaha...

The build quality really looks excellent. Also the bio-fiber diaphragm intrigues me. BTW I think this thread should bemoved to fullsize headphones or portable headphones area for maximum exposure. :)
