Does anyone use the Meier Audio Monoblock amplifiers for their speakers? Also would anyone use these to power bookshelves or would an integrated do just as fine of a job? I have a Pioneer A-35R right now powering some DIY speakers my dad made eons ago. I am looking into getting the Swans 2.1 bookshelves. Of course if I got monoblocks i'd need a pre-amp...then I could upgrade my headphone amp to GS-1... and then...oh dear God, somebody shoot me now!!!

I'd be curious as well - impressions would be very welcome!

gordolindsay: Unfortunately Jan doesn't mention input sensitivity in the specs, but I'd assume those thingies to be fully driven with 2 V just like practically any other hifi power-amp these days. In that case, you wouldn't neccesarily need a pre-amp - at least for single source situations: a simple pot in an enclosure would do, then - and you wouldn't even need that in case your source has a decent variable level output.

Greetings from Hannover!

Hmm, my experiences with passive volume controls and power amps haven't been too encouraging, i.e. "musicality" was significantly compromised.

Unless the sensitivity of those amps is at least like 0.7 V for maximum output I would really include a preamp in my plans...
