I just need opinions on them because i will be getting them in a week or two. I can afford at best the z680s but i was told that these have better sound quality for music. I game alot but i listen to music even more so yeah.

I will most likely be pairing these with the Revo soundcard

thanks

Surround sound speakers aren't the best for music, and headphones give you better positioning (though less immersion which is more important for single player while posistioning is very important for multi player) than a 5.1 surround setup. Have you considered the Audio Technica A900 from www.audiocubes.com for about the same price?

Okay, I may be alone in this, but I think my MegaWorks 650s sound pretty good. No, they don't have the detail of my HD650s, but they do pretty well. I also have Klipsch Promedia 4.1s which have a bit more detail but overall the MegaWorks do well. Of course mine are 6.1 which makes a difference.
There are a lot of 2 channel people on this board. I happen to think that those speakers in back, when set up properly, add a whole lot.
I think you'll enjoy them, but right now I'm listening to my HD650s sourced by my emu 1212m. I haven't hooked up the MegaWorks to the emu, yet. They're sourced by my audigy 2.
Hope that's what you're looking for.

Having said all that, (and re-reading your post) are you still in the market or have you already bought them?
If you want the best musical experience for the price get an emu soundcard and headphones.
But I stick by my statement that these speakers do fairly well for powered computer speakers.

Whats your max budget?Gigaworks S700 can be had for under $300 and they are much better than megaworks.Added tweeters in sats for sharp transparent highs that reach up to 40Khz IIRC.Also much tighter and more powerful sub that goes lower.

Go for the chaintech and spend the extra money somewhere else. If you are totally into surround sound, listen to what these guys are saying. If you think you can live with good 2 channel sound, there's a few more options waiting for you in the pro studio monitor market.

thanks for thre quick replies guys but a few things need to be cleared up. I do not live in the US so i cant get some of the things as cheap as you guys can and secondly, the limit to my budget on speakers is the z680. For soundcard i can afford an Maudio Revo at best. I thought i heard somewhere that the revo was better ?

I would not like headphones because id like to feel my bass not hear it

I just want good music and satisfactory gaming...

Agreed, I would go for the Gigaworks instead. I had the Megaworks 550 and they were pretty good for the price but lacks in detail because the satellites dont have seperate tweeters. They were "fun" speakers and are musical imo. I would stay away from Logitech though but that is my personal opinion. Ive said this countless times when the name Logitech is brought up: even though multimedia sets are on the lower end of audio would you buy a set of speakers from a company that specializes in audio (ie. Klipsch and Cambridge) or from a company that specializes in computer mice/peripherals (Logitech)?

I have different opinion here.

I did a small test when I borrow my friend's GigaWork & Inspire T series satelite (with titanium tweeter) back to home. I have MegaWork 510D and MicroWork with me, so what I did is to swap the satelite between GigaWork, MegaWork, MicroWork and Inspire, subwoofer used is MegaWork.

The result, IMHO,
1. Inspire is the worst. No focus at all.
2. MicroWork is very forwarding, may be good for those like rock and pop.
3. MegaWork has the depth, better sound stage than MicroWork, easy on ears too.
4. GigaWork.... very different sound compare with MegaWork, very laid back. I don't enjoy much, and no idea if woofer matching is the problem here.

Overall, I prefer MegaWork over GigaWork.

And regarding Z680, I listened once at shop. My personal opinion is it may be good for gaming or DVD playback, but not music playback. Too much bass and treble for my taste, tonal balance is out.

Why hook giga's sats to megaworks sub?Its not only subwoofer matching, its a different amplifier as well.Megaworks amp is 500 watt, gigaworks amp is 560 watt.I dont know and never heard gigas myself tho, only read what people on www.3dss-forums.com wrote.

Yes, different wattage, but do the satelite need that big wattage to push for better sound? And Mega subwoofer wattage are not good enough to drive Giga satelite? It does not make sense to me.

I read 3DSS Forum too. Yes, I know some people do prefer Gigawork, but not me, after I conducting the comparision. At least not for my ears.

Actually I did ask another guy who had listen to both Giga and Mega, he have the same taste with me.

Thats 500 watt for all 6 drivers.70x5 for satellites = 350 + 210 watt for sub = 560.Plus its a BASH technology amp that enables it to produce less heat thus using small heatsink and being cheaper and smaller but trades off a little of sound quality IIRC.
And gigas being more laid back than 510d is very strange..I didnt hear 510D but everywhere I read its stated they sound almost identical to my 550.And 550 sound muddy and muffled, the lack of tweeters shows itself.

I was trying to be facetious

They all play games with their numbers. I think my diy dual 10" sub can outperform these multimedia subs, but then again, the parts cost alone for my sub is more than the whole multimedia system

Klipsch ultras have a pretty serious sub, unlike all other multimedia subs its not only loud but with decent quality of bass.
