Hmmmm, for some reason I feel HD820 will sound kinda dark. However, the tractor beam feature is damn cool.

I am happy they endorsed the 4,4 mm balanced new standard which is quite robust. :L3000: Too bad that A&K stick to their "fragile & toy like" 2,5 mm balanced standard !

But... I read that it is a 300 Ohm drivers, which means not very appropriate for our portable DAP /Amps ! :triportsad:

Quality Assurance; manufacturing; distribution; and creating some good-old "demand" : )

I suppose it's related to that, but I would like to get a response from Sennheiser themselves about that.
6 months is too much time, and the opposite effect can happen (people forgetting about the product because it was pre-launched so much time ago).
1 month or a couple of weeks are more than enough time to create expectations (Focal, cough cough)...

That is a funny comment from someone who just bought a 3K "portable" headphone. I kind of agree though. Let's hear how they sound before we judge.
It is expensive, and that is a lot of money, but I feel I got something new and revolutionary for my money, that may be the best sounding headphone I've yet heard, in terms of lack of coloration and freedom from resonances.

The Diana was a new design from the ground up. It wasn't a case of taking an existing model, putting a glass cover over the back of the driver, and charging another $1000, especially after having the gall to put out an inferior product (HD660s) as a supposed upgrade to another existing one (HD650).

I’m guessing opposite of them sounding dark. My guess with the lack of dampening material and only relying on the curvature of the glass to refract that this headphone will be all about frequencies that don’t resonate in long wave form. Just a hunch

Sennheiser is jammed up. The cash-cow 800 series is facing serious competition from Mr. Speakers and Focal. The 'bread and butter' part of the line has been chewed up by massdrop sales.

Solution? I know, we'll put twenty dollars worth of gorilla glass on our flagship can and bump the price up seven hundred dollars.

For less than the price of these you can get a pair of Stax L700 (best Lambda can they ever made) AND a very nice 353X amp to run them.

Congrats - these look really interesting... Can´t shake the feeling that these will be a step up from the HD 800 S despite being a closed design.

Any chance you´ll be doing a Head-Fi community Q&A on these before the launch?

You like those? Great to hear, and yes of course we will! We enjoy writing them. We will think of some of our own questions and answer them quickly (like pad material, it’s good stuff), but we welcome questions from the community too! Those take longer to answer sometimes, and we will try to answer as many as we can, but it’s a great collaboration and our project managers follow them too.
