Meet the Sennheiser HD 820

Almost $2500? That’s a ridiculous price! Also, it’s closed back. I don’t think sennheiser is going to have their most expensive phone be a closed back.

Here's what I think. Sennheiser can't have something as big as HD820 any lower than 2,5K. Hopefully sound quality will justify such asking price, but for this manufacturer it's a prestige thing too. They aim at 2k and pricier competitors, they want to position themselves in a specific way. Marketing and all that jazz and there's nothing wrong with it as long as performance is up there.

We'll know what's what soon.

So I wake up in the middle of the night (5am here in Pittsburgh) and say to my self “I’ll read a little bit of headfi until I fall back asleep” and then I come across your tweaked out Bugs Bunny pic... I would try to go back to bed now but can’t risk the nightmares!!!

Anyways I very much looking forward to hearing this at CanJam NY. I am suspecting the bass will be at least to the extent of the HD800s, unless their development to make it sound more open would have to curb that in some way.

The HD800s’s bass has been welcomed by the majority of Senn fans. I don’t see that being taken away... But, we will hear soon enough!

:D :D The video of the add, it's... I don't find the words to describe how awful it is

Yes, the video for the headphone on YouTube is really, really bad. It’s an attempt at stirring emotions, maybe much like the conductor of an orchestra has hand and facial gestures to invoke the essence of life into a piece of written music being replayed.

Only most of us who would be interested in the headphone are already there mentally. Inside we already have a passion for recorded music. If we didn’t have a passion we would not have spent our time or funds to such an extent in the first place.

It’s basically a hard sell to folks already drinking the koolaid. But if noobs are at home thinking that audiophiles are acting like the piano player in Reefer Maddness, maybe they want some Head-Fi?

Older seasoned members simply question the ads.

I thought the video for the ad was great, and I agree it´s all about feelings, emotions and getting a physical response when you listen to your music...done in a different and not boring / put you to sleep typical audiophile fashion. I do understand that some might get a negative physical response to the ad so here´s something to cleanse the palate
