Hi Rosmadi,

Is the HD 598 SE any different that the standard version, other than the color and that it also comes with a short cable?

Thanks.

Well... this is a bit unusual. Unfamiliar people would think that the beige and brown would be the special edition, but it turns out it's the one with banal color scheme.

Nice to see a shorter cable though. All I really need is a 1.2m for my desktop. And for those who actually use 598s as portables... I've seen more than a few people do that.

...but £200?!?! got to be kidding

I guess I've become used to reading consumer reports but the superlatives in the description upsets my stomach. Jeez

Nah I totally agree, "unrivaled performance and value" pretty much means nothing, especially since it is not their flagship, just some revised model. It's just some marketing person copying and pasting every headphone description ever made into their own description.

I have no doubt these sound good, but that description is meaningless and so cliche that it is kind of a turn off.

So this is not a limited edition right?

One thing I am curious about though, is are these sonically any different from my trusted beige model?

Honestly, a tweak similar to what they are apparently going with the 800s would be PERFECT IMO. Some deeper extended bass response, coupled with a bit of treble smoothing and I would probably be in, especially at that price point.

Beyer's own (somewhat sexier) all black DT990 Pro Limited Edition is half the price in the UK (£99.99). The HD650 is only £30 more than this.

Can only think this has been priced artificially high to offer later on Christmas/ Black Friday/ Cyber Monday/ Lightning whatever deals. Either that or that extra cable must be something very special.
