Maybe I've just gotten used to bass-light headphones like the AD-700. :p

My RE0s have broken for the second time so I decided to get these and relegate the RE0s to desktop use.

I am impressed with the build, fit and cable but kinda underwhelmed by the sound. Coming from the RE0, MS1 and Shure SCL2, they are very much bass heavy but I don't mind the frequency balance so much as the out of control and boomy bass.

Not disappointed with them, just expected a bit more with all the hype surrounding them.

Just got them. I'm very impressed with the look, build quality and overall accessory value. I also feel the need to give MEElec some major thumbs up for the amazing service - they shipped an international credit card order (and gave me a tracking number) in less than 2 hours. This has been unprecedented for me so far, and I've bought plenty of things online over the years.

Coming back from the NE-7Ms, the build quality difference is remarkable. I'm just not sure I dig the sound as much (I'm not going to pretend I have the know-how to make a technical analysis).

Also, here's something I'd like to get some feedback on: the usual way I use a music player is stuffing into my pocket. I know this is bad for the cable, but with the M6's cable can I safely stuff em' in and not care about them too much?

I've had them for about a week now and I don't know if it's brain burn-in or whether the sound has actually changed but I am starting to appreciate them more now. The bass is less boomy and the highs are more pronounced

I agree with this 100% after a weeks use.

Just got my M6 from Overstock.com. Only took 4 days via first-class mail to get from California to my apartment in West Lafayette, IN so it's not bad. It came with the hard case like the M9 (which I also ordered). Doing some quick listening right now and so far I get the feeling it's halfway between a JVC HA-FX66 Air Cushion and a SoundMagic PL-30. Haven't gotten a chance to listen to the M9 yet so I can't say which is better for me. Interesting results thus far.

I'm going to assume you have the new M6's, with the new almost-transparent-and-silvery cable. I don't have a pair of M6's but I have a pair of M11's with the same cable and I'm using them for commuting, stuffing both player (Sansa Clip) and phones into my coat's pockets with little or no care. The cable doesn't have any dent or mark yet, and I've been using them for almost two months, so I think that the cable is more sturdy than any other phone I have or have had.

Some care will help, though, as the cable is by no means indestructible

but you don't have to be extraparanoid when winding up the cable to pack your portable rig.

IMHO, a very good cabling that should be imitated by other brands.

And about customer service, I can't say a bad word about Meelec. They have treated me VERY well, no matter that I've spent very little money with them. Great people, specially Martie, very good phones and very very very good customer care.

Thought I might as well post this here rather than my thread. Meelec is clearing stock of the old-style (maroon) M6s. I believe there is no version of this IEM with the new cable and this color scheme will simply be dropped. Anyway, they're on the Meelec site here for $29.99 and the SPECIAL_SAVINGS coupon knocks off a few more bucks, for anyone interested.

Favorite IEM from Meelectronics... got the maroon ones, great sound, aesthetically pleasing and easy on the wallet

OK-so I've had these for like 5 weeks now, and finally was able to get a decent seal on the right ear using old PL-30 double flanges. The right ear piece stays flush to the ear, but the left one does not no matter what tip I try. I can't tell if it's an ear-shaped issue or
a M6 issue, because I haven't had this problem come up with all my other IEM's.
Those PL-30 bi-flanges are also too loose on the nozzle and I lost the left one soon after I tried it.
Any suggestions regarding other bi-flanges that may fit? This is so frustrating because I can tell that I would eventually really like these if only I could get the correct tips and a seal on the left. I'm determined to try because I've already spent a lot of time burning them in.

The maroon has the original (non designer) cable...?
What exactly does that mean?

Monster trip-flanges might do the trick instead of bi-flanges. There were some up on ebay for $6 last week.

The cable is black instead of gray/clear, rather thin, carries a bit of cable noise, and terminates in a cheap-looking straight plug rather than the nice L-plug that Meelec uses now.

Meelec is now shipping the third-gen M6 with the copper memory wire replaced by a steel one. Tried to take a picture of it:

The steel wire is thinner and much more flexible than the copper one used previously. I don't think this set will need to be mutilated for easy fitting. Shouldn't oxidize with time, either. I think it's a step in the right direction, though I'd still prefer no wire at all.

Also, here's a pic of the M6 with Monster trip-flanges. Brain-ticklingly long but they're soft and very secure on the nozzle.
