I bought this recently (the $10 sale) for use with a blackberry, which it does work fine, as well as on my new Dell laptop.  Sounds great, I'm very pleased.  I cannot get it to work properly on any of my portable CD players, preamps, or older receivers.  Does work, but I have to have the microphone depressed.  These devices do not like the microphone band on the plug.  Is there a fix for this, perhaps a 3 to 2 band 3.5mm converter?

You're going to need a TRRS to TRS adapter than.

Something like this:

Maybe you can find one cheaper.  Email MEE customer support to see if they sell any, I don't see any on their site :p

EDIT: HiFiMan (formerly Head-Direct) might have them too.

That looks like what I need, at least I now know what to look for.  A bit pricey, though.  What I might do is get a cheap TRRS extension, find the mic wire in the cable and cut it.  I guess I can also get a dirt cheap TRRS bud (monoprice has one for $2.99), cut the cable off and attach a TRS female to it minus the mic. Thanks.
