Hello. I've been extremely concerned about my hearing lately and although my last test came back in the good range I know that I've done some damage.
So I bought a fifteen dollar sound meter from amazon and been trying it on my headphones. For now I have no way to simulate or close off the openings around my headphone pads (all my headphones are either on ear or over ear. Don't like the way earbuds or iem's feel) and I've been testing away from the pad where my ears would be. I've also been adding 10 db to the readout of the meter because I've read that in a few spots.
Question, it seems very quiet to me when it's at 75db or lower like almost unlistenable. Am I measuring wrong and can go a bit higher? Or have I done permanent damage that professional hearing tests can't determine? I do not have tinnitus.
Thanks a lot!
