I bought the MDR-V6 recently and I was amazed at how good the sound quality was when I tried them on my portable mp3 player. But for some reason when I plug them into my computer speakers I hear this loud cracking sound in the backround. I have an audigy soundcard and if I plug the V6 directly into the soundcard the problem seems to be gone. What could be causing the cracking sound when plugging the V6 into the computer speakers and how can I get rid of it. Thank you.

I have Altec Lansing ADA 885 speakers. I don't think there is a problem with the headphone out because I have used the Koss R 80 headphones through these speakers before with no problems.

Your R80's might be a bit more forgiving of sources...

.in any case, it's never really quite a good idea to hook good headphones to headphone jacks on your speakers....they tend to be weaker than the soundcard itself, and can do all sorts of things to make the sound worse.

...the best thing to do, i think, would be to have an external amp attached to the soundcard's line out and then use your headphones with that...but the audigy itself should be good enough with something like the V6...
